Motichoor Ladoo/ Moti Ladoo An Easy and Delicious Sweet !!! Diwali Special Sweet…! ; ) Such a Tempting Treat to all..!

Motichoor ladoo or Motichur ladoo is a round shaped sweet which is made of besan flour or the chick pea flour.

This is my husband’s and my kids favorite sweet which i make very rarely but all the time i get it perfectly so you guys do try this and let me know how it came.

This is actually a North Indian sweet which is often given as prasad in all the temples there and people usually make this at home for all the special occasions like this.

Where we make the flour into a running batter and deep fry them in a very unique way but an easy one, then we make the sugar syrup add some flavorings and then we add the fried tiny balls which we made with the besan flour. Then we make round balls and garnish it with some shredded pistachios.

Now lets see the full recipe of it

  • Two cups of besan flour as i have shown here
  • On the same cup measure the sugar as 1 1/2 cups so it will be perfect

To make the batter :

  • Take a bowl to mix in all the ingredients for the batter
  • Such as the besan flour and req amount of water it should be runny like a buttermilk and more thin than the dosa batter
  • Make sure to first pour very little water and make a thick batter and then add more water to avoid any lumps in the batter
  • If the batter is thin you ll get the perfect tiny balls for the ladoo
  • Add the food color (orange or red & yellow)
  • Just incorporate everything together without any lumps at all
  • Use a blender or Whisk for this part to get the best out of it

To make the sugar syrup :

  • Just a pinch of salt to give it a kick and a little more food color to make it exciting
  • Lemon is used to avoid the sugar syrup getting crystallized
  • Water ratio is for 1 cup of sugar i used about 1 1/2 cup of water
  • Take another wide pan for the sugar syrup and add in the sugar and water
  • Add some elaichi powder or cardamom powder
  • Add the food color just a pinch will do
  • Add the salt and lemon juice
  • Allow it to boil for about 3 to 4 min just the same as the gulab jamun syrup
  • Add in the shredded nuts to the syrup
  • If you have cucumber seeds also you can add them too for a flavor
  • Give it a stir and keep it in a very low flame and keep it aside

Frying the batter :

  • Take the batter give it a stir and keep it ready to use
  • Keep the colander ready too
  • Take a ladle of batter and pour it into the colander keep tapping it until the batter is all into the oil
  • You can also use authentic boondi maker which is also available in stores
  • Like wise you can make it for the rest of the batter too
  • When you take the boondi’s out First take it with a bigger strainer and then with the smaller one to take out all the small boondi’s as shown
  • Make it and keep it aside
  • Again back to the syrup

Making the ladoo’s :

  • Take the syrup which we already made give it a stir
  • Add some ghee
  • Add some more cardamom powder for extra flavor
  • And add in the boondi’s which we have already made
  • Stir it and give a gentle mix
  • Initially we have the syrup at the bottom keep stirring until the syrup is all dissolved
  • Then switch off the flame and close it and keep it for about half an hour
  • Open the pan and it will be doubled in size
  • Apply some ghee in your palm and take some in your palm
  • Start to make it into a ball shape as shown above
  • You can make these and store it in a container
  • And you can store this for about a week in room temperature
  • And if you keep this in refrigerator you can have it for more days than that off course
  • Done READY!!! Our Awesome and lovely ball of sweet Mothichoor ladoo which makes us feel so tempting and mouth-watering.
