IDYAPPAM (Lemon,Onion and Milk)

Ingredients:

  1. Idyappam flour – 2 cups
  2. Water – 1 cup
  3. Salt – 1 tsp

Preparation:

  • Firstly keep some water to roll boil in a pan
  • Take a wide bowl add the idyappam flour and some salt
  • Add the water gradually and mix vigorously
  • Keep the steel ladle inverted so that you can make it perfectly
  • keep mixing it until it forms a crumbled mixture as shown below
  • Then kneed it until you make it into a dough, ball shape and put a damp cloth on it and keep it aside
  • Make sure to have no lumps in it because the base gets clogged
  • Take the murukku press and put the base for the idyappam into it
  • Brush it with some oil inside to not to get sticky
  • Add in some dough and close it
  • Take your idly cooker and the plates for it and brush them with oil as well
  • Then start pressing your dough in the plate generously
  • Don’t over do it so that it will take much time to cook or it won’t be cooked perfectly
  • So add the right amount of dough into it
  • And place all the racks into the idly cooker similarly the other ones too
  • It will take only few minutes to get it done
