Green Chilly Chutney/Pachamolaga Chutney (worth a try)

Preparation time: 5 min      Cooking time: 10 min        Serves: 3


For Sauteing:

  1. Green Chilly – 3
  2. Onion – 2
  3. Tamarind – a bit
  4. Asafoetida(the hard one) – Very little
  5. Jaggery – a small piece
  6. Lemon juice – 1 tbsp (should add at the end)
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Water to grind

Follow the image for all the perfect ingredients

For Seasoning:

  1. Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  2. Urad dal – 1 tsp
  3. Curry leaves – 1/2 sprig
  4. Asafoetida powder – 2 pinch




  • Make sure to soak the Asafoetida hard one in water before starting the recipe
  • Take a pan smear some oil
  • Add the green chillies saute them until the skin of it is lightly shrinked
  • Add in the onions saute well until the color changes to light brown
  • Add some salt so that it cooks faster
  • Add the jaggery in saute it
  • After it is done add them into a blender with the tamarind
  • Add a pinch of sugar and some salt and grind them a bit coarsely
  • Add water gradually but very little
  • If it has become a paste also no worries it will be tastely this is just for the texture
  • Bowl it and add some lemon juice and the asafoetida water
  • Check the salt
  • Season it with the seasoning ingredients
