GROUNDNUT CHUTNEY / Kadalai chutney

Preparation time: 10 mins          cooking time: 5 mins           Serves: 3

Ingredients:

  1. Groundnut – 2 cups
  2. Red chilly – 4 or 5
  3. Tamarind – a small piece
  4. Lemon juice – few drops
  5. Garlic – 1/2 clove
  6. Salt – to taste
  7. Water to grind

For Seasoning:

  1. Mustard seeds – 1/2 tbsp
  2. Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
  3. Urad dhal – 1/2 tsp
  4. Curry leaves – 1/2 sprig

Preparation:

  • Roast the groundnut if it is not a roasted one
  • Slightly roast the red chillies too
  • When it has come to a room temperature add it to your blender with some salt and tamarind and garlic
  • Blend it well by adding water gradually
  • Take it out and add some lemon juice
  • Check the salt
  • And season it with seasoning ingredients
  • The crunchy textured awesome looking groundnut chutney is READY
  • Goes well with dosa and idly too.
