Ribbon pakoda


  1. Rice flour – 1 cup
  2. Chick pea flour – 1 cup
  3. Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
  4. Asafoetida powder – 1/4 tsp
  5. Ajwain/carom seeds – 1/2 tsp
  6. Butter – 1 tbsp
  7. Water as needed just to mix
  8. Small onion – 2
  9. Salt to taste



  • Firstly prepare the small onion paste without any lumps grind it well
  • soak the ajwain seeds in warm water before stating the process
  • Be ready with your press just grease it before using
  • Now mix the rice and the chick pea flour, red chilli powder and salt and give it a mix198443D9-1A49-4791-BD61-AFB3EC1BFC76-COLLAGE
  • Now add the ajwain water and small onion paste
  • Make it into a soft dough
  • Make sure to fix the base for it as shown

  • Have a strainer and take it out on that just to stain the excess oil out
  • Just take a small amount of the dough and put it into the press and close it with the lid
  • Aside keep a vessel with some oil to deep fry
  • To check whether the oil is hot enough after sometime just add a bit of the dough
  • If that is rising up as you see in the pic its time to fry them
  • Just press the dough into the oil
  • Fry them until its done (until the sizzling sound is almost gone ) as shown above
  • And repeat the same for the remaining dough as well.
