Poori Masal

Prep time:5 min          cooking time:10 min           servings: 3


  1. Mustard seeds 1tsp
  2. Urad dal  1 tsp
  3. Chana dal / chick pea 1 tsp
  4. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  5. Asefoetida powder / Hing 1/2 tsp
  6. Green chilly 1 or 2
  7. Onion 1
  8. Potato 3 or 4
  9. Ginger grated 1 tbsp
  10. Turmeric powder 1/2 tbsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. oil for seasoning


  • Boil the potato with a pinch of salt before starting the process



  1. Add the mustard seeds,urad dal,chana dal,curry leaves,hing, when it has spluttered
  2. Add the green chilly,onion and turmeric powder saute it well until the onion is transparent
  3. Then add 1/2 a cup of water and allow it to boil
  4. Add the potato which should be mashed little
  5. Stir and garnish it with some coriander leaves.

Have it with poori or dosa as well tastes yummm!
